چکیده
In the presented study, multi-parameter inversion in presence of attenuation is used for reconstruction P- and S- wave velocities density models a synthetic shallow subsurface structure that contains dipping high-velocity layer near surface with varying thicknesses. The problem layers also complicates selection an appropriate initial velocity model. forward solved finite difference, inverse preconditioned conjugate gradient. We adjoint wavefield approach computing gradient misfit function without explicitly build sensitivity matrix. proposed method capable either minimizing least-squares norm data or use Born approximation estimating partial derivative wavefields. It depends on which characteristics recorded data—such as amplitude, phase, logarithm complex-valued data, envelope misfit, linearization procedure problem—are used. showed by pseudo-viscoelastic time-domain full-waveform inversion, structures below can be imaged. However, inverting waves simultaneously mass density, better results would obtained.

Discretized Adjoint State Time and Frequency Domain Full Waveform Inversion: A Comparative Study
This study derives the discretized adjoint states full waveform inversion (FWI) in both time and frequency domains based on the Lagrange multiplier method. To achieve this, we applied adjoint state inversion on the discretized wave equation in both time domain and frequency domain. Besides, in this article, we introduce reliability tests to show that the inversion is performing as it should be ...
متن کاملFull Waveform Inversion and the truncated Newton method: quantitative imaging of complex subsurface structures
SUMMARY Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) is a powerful tool for quantitative seismic imaging from wide-azimuth seismic data. The method is based on the minimization of the misfit between observed and simulated data. This amounts to the resolution of a large-scale nonlinear minimization problem. The inverse Hessian operator plays a crucial role in this reconstruction process. Accounting accurately ...
متن کامل3D acoustic frequency-domain full-waveform inversion
We present one of the first attempt at implementing a massively parallel frequency-domain full-waveform inversion algorithm for imaging 3D acoustic media. The inverse method is based on a classic steepest-descent algorithm. The algorithm was designed so that one or several frequencies are inverted at a time. Wave propagation modeling, a key component of the inversion algorithm, is performed wit...
متن کاملFull waveform inversion of crosswell seismic data using automatic differentiation
Full waveform inversion (FWI) is an effective and efficient data-fitting technique that has been widely used to produce accurate estimation of model parameters in Geophysics. The efficiency and accuracy of FWI are determined by the three main components: numerical solution for forward problem, gradient calculation and model update which usually involves the optimization method. The success of t...
متن کاملFull waveform seismic inversion using a distributed system of computers
The aim of seismic waveform inversion is to estimate the elastic properties of the Earth’s subsurface layers from recordings of seismic waveform data. This is usually accomplished by using constrained optimization often based on very simplistic assumptions. Full waveform inversion uses a more accurate wave propagation model but is extremely difficult to use for routine analysis and interpretati...
